Shabhari Elder Care is a Skilled Nursing Facility (SNF) and Assisted Living centre for senior citizens in East Tambaram, Chennai. We are not a home-care service, and while we operate under a hospital license, we are not an acute-care hospital — we are a dedicated care environment where seniors stay with us, recover, and are looked after every day.
Behind Shabhari is a team of geriatricians, trained nurses, physiotherapists, dietitians, and caregivers who chose this work — not as a business, but because they believe the way India cares for its elders needs to change. We built this place for the parents we would want cared for ourselves.

Do you offer home-care, or only facility-based care?
We are a Skilled Nursing Facility and Assisted Living centre — your loved one stays with us at our facility in East Tambaram. We do not offer home-care or nurse-at-home services. This lets our multidisciplinary team provide continuous, coordinated care under one roof.
What kind of residents do you admit?
Seniors recovering from surgery or stroke, those living with dementia, Parkinson's, or chronic illness, residents needing long-term skilled nursing (bed-bound, tube-fed), families needing respite, and end-of-life palliative care. Every admission follows a formal clinical needs assessment.
What makes Shabhari different from other elder care homes?
We are a Skilled Nursing Facility (SNF) and Assisted Living centre operating under a hospital license — not a general old-age home and not a home-care agency. Every resident begins with a Comprehensive Geriatric Assessment (CGA), our caretakers are trained nurses (not general caretakers), and daily physiotherapy and geriatrician-led care plans are included — not on-demand add-ons.
Do you admit healthy, independent senior citizens?
No. As a clinical establishment, we admit only after a formal needs assessment that identifies a clinical care goal. We do not offer lodging to seniors without a care requirement.
What are your safety measures?
24/7 emergency bedside call system, secure entrances and exits, anti-skid flooring, grab rails throughout, multifunctional hospital cots, power backup, elevator access, routine safety inspections, and trained staff available for any emergency.
Do you offer short-term stays or respite care?
Yes. We accept short-term admissions for post-surgery recovery, post-hospitalisation bridging care, and respite when primary family caregivers travel or need rest.
How are families kept involved?
Every resident's family is added to a dedicated WhatsApp group with our doctors, physiotherapists and nurses. Daily updates, family meetings, and visits are all encouraged. For NRI families, this is often the most valued part of our service.
